Program Overview
To ensure that African American students in Manatee and Sarasota Counties understand the rich history, culture, and purpose of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Ivy Foundation Inc. with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, in collaboration with the FAMU Alumni Association and the United Community Center, and several other HBCU Alumni Associations plan to present to them the “#ThinkHBCU Event”.

The goal of this project is to increase the level of awareness of the importance of higher learning / secondary education while exposing the students to the HBCU Education and Experience.  We also plan to assist with enrolling students into college on the day of the event.  #ThinkHBCU will include workshops and information sessions from FAMU, Florida Memorial, and Bethune Cookman University.

Those workshops will delve around Financial Aid, College Entry Requirements, and Careers.  We will insert the social experience through pep band, steps/strolls while showcasing the Black Greek Experience.  We will also have breakout sessions to include Financial Aid counseling, Athletic Scholarship Preparation, FAMU Scholarship Opportunities, and Other HBCU Presentations.
